Easter Weekend

I hope everyone had a happy Easter, or, if it's not a holiday you celebrate, a good weekend. I know the family of Captain Richard Phillips had a good weekend, as they learned their love one had been rescued. Here's Captain Phillips with the commanding officer of the USS Bainbridge, Cmdr. Frank Castellano, after the rescue.

For republicans always on the watch for an Obama failure, this success must bring mixed messages. Obama carries a big stick and uses it. The world, including those who don't like us, are sure to notice.

At the risk of fueling Bessemer Opinions detractors claims that I make everything gay, I offer the following. We did the egg dying thing Saturday night...

...threw all our eggs in one basket (carton)...

...and they landed in the pattern of the Rainbow flag, the symbol of gay pride.

Easter, unlike Christmas, is difficult to make gay. I mean, there are no elves or fairies, no gaudy red suits, no anticipated decorating opportunity, no fabulous parties at The Castle or here.

Well, there are Peeps.

But the real Easter story, that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, for all of us, straight or gay, is good enough for me.

As for the rainbow of eggs, what do hard boiled eggs have to do with Easter anyway?

I am truly disgusted that Obama is getting ANY credit for this rescue. Obama is not pro military. He is not even pro American. As a retired Nave Seal, i tip my hat to the men and women who made this happen. None of it was because of our "Commander in Chief", a man with no military experience whatsoever. It was done because for the past 8 years, we have had a President who realized the importance of a strong military. Clinton, who was president while I was in the military was leading us down a path of self destruction. Obama will do the same if we don't watch out.
Don't be confused by the headlines of the ultra-liberal media. This was NOT a 'victory' for our president. It was just another day at the office for our Navy Seals.

And I'm pretty disgusted that you don't recognize what happened.

From the AP:
"WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama twice authorized the military to rescue a U.S. captain who was being held by Somali pirates and whose life appeared to be at risk, administration officials said after Sunday's rescue.

The Defense Department twice asked Obama for permission to use military force to rescue Capt. Richard Phillips from a lifeboat off the Somali coast. Obama first gave permission around 8 p.m. Friday, and upgraded it at 9:20 a.m. Saturday. Officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations said the second order was to encompass more military personnel and equipment that arrived in the Indian Ocean to engage the pirates...White House officials on Sunday said Obama received regular updates by phone and in person at the White House — including 11 memos — and during his daily intelligence briefings with senior officials. The National Security Council last updated the president on a contingency plan for Phillips at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a timeline of events released Sunday afternoon by the White House.

The president was in the residence Sunday when officials called him to alert him the five-day standoff was over, officials said.

Shortly after, the White House released a statement praising Phillips' behavior.

"I share the country's admiration for the bravery of Capt. Phillips and his selfless concern for his crew," Obama said. "His courage is a model for all Americans."

It was Obama's first public comment on the situation. Administration officials said the president made an effort not to call attention to the hostage situation while it was ongoing. Officials said they didn't want to send mixed signals to the pirates or do anything that might threaten Phillips' life.

An administration official also said Obama phoned Phillips and his family on Sunday."

The same was reported on fox news.

Let's be clear. Obama is the commander in chief, and authorized this mission.

Of course, President Obama, being the type person he is, gave praise to the SEALS which was deserved

Ralph: Let me remind you that not only did your hero, George Bush not have any military experience, he managed to get out of having to go to Vietnam, he was supposed to serve in Alabama's national guard and never even showed up. How in the world you can think that BUSH was some sort of military hero is beyond my comprehension. My husband is a VN vet and we resent that our former president didn't serve but that some misguided people such as you think he was some sort of military hero.

The ultra liberal media? Have you watched Fox news lately? The only ultra liberal media is the cartoon playing in your head.

Hey Ralph,

Maybe you could enlighten us as so why Bush didn't stop offshoring of labor and production, both of which exacerbated the current economic downturn. Thanks.

Oh but Ralph's a "Navy Seal" Yeah right. All these Bush lovers become patriots all of a sudden. They didn't care Bush was wiping his ass with the Constitituion. Now for some reasion they care. Go cry yourself a river Ralph. Get used to 8 years of President Obama.

Yes, Ralph, get down from that cross, tear it down, take the wood, build a bridge and get over it. Ignoramus Maximus.

And, lest we forget, yes, Joe, tossing the eggs in the carton and them landing in the rainbow flag configuration is pretty gay. And I love it.
