Good Bye Sarah

I'm so glad I have better things to do than go to Brookwood Mall today.

Sarah Palin, (remember her?) is there. To honor the occasion, I will print this cartoon by Dan Darrow at the Ester Republic (he gave me permission in the comments of this post from when Palin was picked to help defeat John McCain).

"Good bye Sarah"

But Dan, why did you have to send her down here!!! Take her back. No wait, on second thought, please let her run for president in 2012. she's doing such a good job for the democrats now, I can't imagine the fun we will have for the next 3 years if she runs.

What amazes me is how the Dems talk about how inexperienced Palin is, yet seem to forget how much MORE experienced she is then our present President.

Palin is a very smart woman, with a quirky personality. It makes for great SNL skits, but the TRUTH is that she would be a much better president than what we are dealing with right now.

Heck, Sarah Palin couldn't even finish out her term as governor. Wouldn't that be something if she wa elected president and couldn't finish out her first 4 years? Oh my God, then vice president Glenn Beck would take over. Yikes!

Joe, I don't like Palin either, but I think using this kind of image is inappropriate and sexist. I've seen too many progressives justify sexism against Palin (and Hillary Clinton, during the primaries) because they don't like her. Sexism is sexism, no matter the target, and we're supposed to be better than that.

It may be, but Dan has been portraying her as a dominatrix since 2006, because of the way she brought fiscal discipline to the naughty GOP in Alaska.

That is, of course, his choice, just as it is yours to reprint the cartoon. I doubt he would have portrayed a male governor that way, and I wish other progressives wouldn't perpetuate this. There are so many substantive issues on which to criticize her. I don't think we need to stoop to this level.

Well if dan did it, I guess that makes it ok for joe to do it. The very thing he preaches against----oh wait Sarah is not gay.

What a hipocrit you are joe. Typical progressive.
You preach fairness and equality but refuse to think you have to practice it.

I don't remember any complaints when Loretta posted this cartoon of Troy King, and this one was from the Mobile Press register.

There have been others of King by Crowe that are just as demeaning.

I wasn't crazy about those cartoons either, but at least there was the context of sex toys that provided some justification for the portrayal. There is none of that in this image.

Not to worry, though. You have plenty of compatriots on the progressive side of the ledger who will agree with you wholeheartedly that it's perfectly fine.
