Another Threat to Gays

This threat is not just an idle threat. Roy Moore, in the decision of DH v HH in 2002, said the state has the power of the sword to use against homosexuals in his written concurring opinion..

"To disfavor practicing homosexuals in custody matters is not invidious discrimination, nor is it legislating personal morality. On the contrary, disfavoring practicing homosexuals in custody matters promotes the general welfare of the people of our State in accordance with our law, which is the duty of its public servants... The State carries the power of the sword, that is, the power to prohibit conduct with physical penalties, such as confinement and even execution. It must use that power to prevent the subversion of children toward this lifestyle, to not encourage a criminal lifestyle.."

As if the threat in Bessemer is not enough, let's make sure that this dangerous homophobe does not get elected Governor. He announced he is running for Governor. Lord help us.

Of course, I can predict who will respond in support of Moore. But I will not post their comments. But I will ask: is someone who supports Roy Moore also guilty by association of supporting executing gays?

I think he even scares most conservatives . . .

Those comments are terrifying! I imagine only members of Fred Phelps' Westboro Batptist Church would support and vote for someone who expresses his bigotry and hatred so vehemently and openly...

So far two Moore supporters have tried to leave comments, supporting his policy of promoting gay executions, I guess.

I seriously doubt his candidacy is viable. I wouldn't waste too much space on him, unless he shows himself to start being a real contender. Otherwise you are increasing the voice of extreme views fully endorsed by a lunatic few.

Unfortunately I believe that he has a shot at a large chunk of the vote. He didn't do horribly last time he ran.

Moore has a history of ignoring the law when it doesn't mess with his personal religious beliefs. What ever happened to politicians who believed that the Constitution should be upheld?

Randy,
I'm not posting your comment, but you can't read. Let me explain. This was a custody case in which a lesbian wanted custody. It wemt to the Alabama Supreme Court. This was his written opinion in the case. Yes he was writing about executing gays. Plain and clear. You said he was referring to crime in general, yet he is clearly referring to the "gay" lifestyle.maybe if you read the entire document you could understand. But since you read and comprehend, there is no use to post the link.

Oops, I left out a word. I meant to say "since you *cant* read and comprehend...

He only won like 30% on the Republican primary vote... but its true I hadn't even thought about the fact that was against an incumbent. I still don't think he can win, but its pretty scary that he even has a chance.

And the repblican party wants to know how to, "fix," their disaster. A rolling STONE may gather no moss; but it surely gathers dust and dirt. Just another issue for the New York Times and Washington Post. Roy just don't get it! Who the heck were his law professors? What kind of church does this guy attend? Maybe the church of Big STONES, like say, kidney stones....
