Republican Party chairman Michael Steele asked the organizers in Chicago if he could Teabag with them, and they refused him.
What's the public teabagging about anyway?
Some say its a tax protest, held on tax day. But the taxes we are paying are the ones from the Bush era, since Obama hasn't passed any taxes (and won't).
Some say its a protest against the rising deficit, something they completely ignored during the Bush years. Also being ignored, polls that show that a large majority of Americans prefer to fix health care over reducing the deficit. And would rather spend more on education than fix the deficit. And this Gallup poll shows that 71% of Americans have a great deal or fair amount of confidence in President Obama when it comes to doing the right thing for the economy.
Some say its a protest against socialism. OK. Ask the teabaggers, if they are over 65, are they willing to give up medicare and social security? If they are under 65, are they ready to take those programs away from their parents?

What this teabagging tomorrow is really about is getting their rocks off because they can't stand the fact that we have a successful well loved and respected president who happens to be black.
Teabaggers, enjoy your day. If you can't teabag with your friends, who can you teabag? This is probably the only pleasure you will have for the next 8 years.

Well thanks a lot Joe... I just spewed coffee from my nose. This is wrong on so many levels! LOL!
Sorry Tom, but at least it was coffee and not "tea."
First the Obamas were fisting each other, now Republican are teabagging one another, what's next?
Uncle Javi you crack me up. Thanks
Well spoken, Joe! How ironic that just as some groups are planning tea bag affairs, our Jeffco folks are down in Montgomery asking to reinstate the occupational tax.
AS USUAL, Joe, you have it all wrong. The whole idea of the Teabagging thing is to protest BIG GOVERNMENT. I encourage you to look closely and you will see that the main stream media, as they always do, have spun this to make it a "right wing" rally against Obama. That is not what this is.
People need to look into the FAIR TAX. If we can control Gov't spending, which Obama appears to be trying to do, and then would institute the FAIR TAX, this country could once again be the greatest nation on earth. But until we control our spending (...we are like a teenage girl at the Galleria) we can't move forward.
But the teabagging was not anti-Obama, anti-America..it was just made to look that way by the liberal media.
Typical!
After watching the reports from Alabama it seems all that was missing was the white sheets and the pointy hats.
The FairTax:
-Enables workers to keep their entire paychecks
-Enables retirees to keep their entire pensions
-Refunds in advance the tax on purchases of basic necessities
-Allows American products to compete fairly
-Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
-Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding
-Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
-Abolishes the IRS
Who wouldn't want ALL of this. And it will work. Speak up America.
Funny how none of these people had anything to say while the Bush administration was running the country's economy into the ground while lining their own pockets...
I support the concept of the Tea Party demonstrations. I have felt for a long time that the government is wasteful in its spending and that the tax rate on individuals hampers economic and civic growth.
However, I wish that these parties would have taken place at least 5 years ago. While I supported several of Bush's policies I thought that his administration along with a Republican backed House and Senate did this country a disservice by enlarging the government and increasing spending the way it did.
Protests, if held at all, should have been held before the 2004 elections. They weren't. Now it just appears to many people to be sour grapes over Obama's election. The timing makes these types of protests less effective. Why can people not be critical of their own party over the issues? Why wait until another party is in office to address a problem that has lingered for some time?
