Free Movie

No black hole yet, so I get at least one more post in.

Michael Moore has spent 20 years making groundbreaking movies such as Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11 and Sicko.

Now he is offering a feature length film for free with an internet download available 2 weeks from today, September 23.

Sign up for the free download at Slacker Uprising .

Slacker Uprising traces Michael Moore’s 62-city tour of the swing states during the 2004 Presidential election and records the thrilling -- and frightening -- response he received across the country.

Trailer

Neither Moore nor Brave New Films will make any money from the film, which had a budget of over $2 million. "This is being done entirely as a gift to my fans," said Moore. "The only return any of us are hoping for is the largest turnout of young voters ever at the polls in November. I think 'Slacker Uprising' will inspire million to get off the couch and give voting a chance."

Along with Moore’s appearance, "Slacker Uprising" features live performances or appearances by Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam), Roseanne Barr, Joan Baez, Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine), R.E.M., Steve Earle, and Viggo Mortensen.

Sign up today, and spread the word.

I heard this is just another vanity piece for Moore. I wonder if he even address the biggest reason people can't make it out to the polls: work obligations. Millions of Americans can't come out to vote on Tuesday because they work one or two jobs and can't find the time.

It's really a form of disenfranchisement, especially given that most people who don't have the luxury to make it out are poor. The government should make election day a national holiday or we should do it ourselves: http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/make-election-day-a-national-holiday

Actually the film was released at various screenings across the nation last year as "Captain Mike Across America". It was panned even by leftist reviewers as a vanity piece.

Since the film couldn't get film distribution the title was changed to take the focus off Mike and it is going to DVD. The free release is a limited engagement to help drum up word of mouth advertising amongst the faithful.

Also, the previous poster has a valid point about work obligations preventing people from voting. If the day was made a national holiday it may help service industry workers and government workers but many of the people who are affected by work conflicts (those working in the retail and manufacturing/industrial areas) would still have a hard time getting to the polls.

McCain up 2 in ABC/WPost Poll
McCain up 2 in CBS Poll
McCain up 5 in Gallup Tracker
McCain up 1 in Rasmussen Tracker

...Race TIED in CNN Poll.....

People, if this is not PROOF of how slanted CNN is toward Obama I don't know what is.

Come on Joe...where is your headline....McCAIN UP IN MAJORITY OF NATIONAL POLLS...

You LOST with Hillary and you are going to lose again Joe. America DOES know what is best for our country. And the liberal media machine and Michael Moore can do NOTHING about it.

Vadim:
Changing the day we vote is something that many Democrats are talking about for the next congress. Let's elect the Dems.

Oh Brother:
Still the movie might spark interest among young voters. I don't think they were among the critics.

Everyone, Barack Obama included, expected McCain to get a bump after his convention. Give it time.
When people realize McCain does not support veterans, does not agree that women deserve equal pay, and is just a continuation of the last 8 years, the polls will shift.
Besides, as I said the other day, its the state polls in battleground states that count.

...does not support veterans???? LMAO...omg.
You are hilarious!!! He has gone to Iraq and actually TALKED to the soldiers, didn't just do a photo op. Not only is he FOR veterans....HE IS ONE....and Obama is what?????
He picked the BEST POSSIBLE FEMALE as his running mate, and sincerely wants to reach across party lines to move our country forward. As opposed to Obama, who simply wants to be the first "black" man in the "white" house and wants to simply move his PARTY forward. That is all you demos want to do is move your party forward. You could care less about this country. It is all about power and promoting your liberal agenda.
You can expect the polls to rise in McCain's favor as true, American born, flag waving citizens (....and I'm talking about the red, white and blue - not that gay rainbow flag) stand up for morality and economic growth and true American Ideals!!!! USA...USA
