One way to really sell the idea as the winner it is is to drop the "education fund" part of it, and pair it with the removal of the state sales tax on food and medicines.<br /><br /> It gives the voters something concrete that they can see immediately, and this makes the "smoke filled back rooms where they take your lottery dollars" moot, as the funding from the lottery would HAVE to be used to replace the taxes lost from the removal of this tax.<br /><br /> Another argument that was made in the last lottery vote was that it was a tax on the poor. Even if true, how can they make it an issue when you're removing the most regressive of taxes and replacing it with a voluntary tax?<br /><br /> BTW, you're wasting your breath debating the LiA crowd. They call themselves progressive, but their idea of progressive is someone not quite as conservative as Sarah Palin. They'll never be able to understand why the majority of Alabama voters rejected Artur Davis, and rather soundly. They can never admit they were wrong.Johnny Smithnoreply@blogger.com
